Master's of Science in Accounting - Government Specialization

Kaplan University’s master’s of science in Accounting degree with a specialization in Government provides the critical thinking skills and methodological tools necessary for students who wish to pursue a career in Government finance. Students in the program will learn financial and managerial accounting concepts so that they may better serve as a staff finance member in a large department or organization. Like many accounting degrees, Kaplan’s focuses on its students developing the wherewithal to create and implement accounting information systems to manage risk and internal controls.  Some of the courses offered by the program include economics, accounting information systems, not-for-profit accounting, financial reporting, regulation, internal control assessment, and business communications. Careers that a master’s degree in Accounting with a specialization in Government degree recipient may qualify for, among others, include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA), should the student pass their qualifying examinations. Kaplan’s curriculum tries in part to prepare its students for these exams.
