Kaplan University

Associate's of Applied Science in Accounting

Kaplan University’s associate’s of Applied Science in Accounting (A.A.S) is designed to help students begin a career in accounting. The program hopes to prepare its students to face the problems and challenges that they will likely face in the field. Most of Kaplan’s required 90-credit coursework for the associate’s degree will prepare students for things they would do on-the-job, including processing payroll; preparing important financial statements and tax documents; and presenting accounting information to overseers. After graduation, students should be aptly trained to hold a variety of entry-level positions in accounting, as they will have ascertained the skills necessary to solve intermediate to advanced accounting problems. If a student keeps on-track with Kaplan’s typical course load suggestions, he or she should be able to complete the associate’s of applied science in Accounting degree in about two and a half years.
