George Washington University

The physical campus of George Washington University, located just a few blocks from the United States capital, was first opened in 1821, after George Washington expressed a desire to have a broad based higher learning program within Washington DC. When first established, the university was known as the Columbian College in the District of Columbia, and has now expanded to include over 200 different programs of study, many which can be completed in a highly accessible online format.

George Washington University is a fully accredited not for profit private higher education center, which is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.

Online classes are offered at many different levels including Master level courses in topics such as healthcare, business management, political studies, paralegal studies and education and leadership. Online courses provide students with the same type of education they would receive if they were attending in-person traditional classes at one of the campus locations. Online courses do provide a lot more flexibility and scheduling options than traditional courses, making them ideal for busy professionals and those that want to continue to work full or part-time while earning a degree.

Online students have various opportunities to communicate with others in their classes, as well as staff through one-on-one phone calls, emails and online discussion forums and even group projects and assignments.

Classes at George Washington University start on a semester basis, which allows multiple start times per year. In addition, students can self-pace through certain classes, meaning that degrees can often be earned in a shorter time period than traditional classes. Students that need to only complete courses on a part-time basis will be able to pick courses and schedules that work within their time commitments.

Courses offered through the online or in-person campus at George Washington University stress both a theoretical approach to the subject material as well as a strong practical application. The university is strongly associated with many leading industries and businesses through the country such as the National Institute of Health, World Bank and the National Science Foundation. These associations ensure that students are learning the most up to date information as well as the skills needed to graduate with the tools needed to be successful in the workplace.
