MS - Mental Health Counseling

The Master of Science in Human Services with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling program is designed to provide students with a degree that is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Capella University is the only university of its kind to receive such accreditation. The specialization in mental health counseling was accredited in 2003, and the marital, couple, and family counseling/therapy specialization was accredited in 2005. Both specializations have accreditation through the year 2011. This is the longest accreditation term granted by CACREP. The specialization in mental health counseling prepares students to work as mental health counselors within institutional, community, and private practice settings. This is accomplished through both academic study and clinical training.
