Ashford University’s bachelor’s degree in Health Care Studies hopes to give its students the knowledge and skill sets they need to succeed in the medical field. The program hopes to train its students in the in and outs of the U.S. health care system, covering everything from ethics to community health. The degree is often pursued by students who wish to change majors (from things like biology, chemistry, psychology, and exercise science) to better prepare themselves for real-world career positions. Some courses you can expect to take as a student in Ashford’s program include health care ethics and medical law; the U.S. health care system; human resource management; community & public health; introduction to long term care; and electronic health records, among others. Graduates may qualify for jobs like wellness expert, patient account services, health care education, and community liaison. Ashford’s program is available to students 100 percent online, meaning it can be an easier choice for non-traditional students.
