The United States' hospital system is very complex. With so many different health insurance plans, ways of operating, technology, and "red tape", it can be difficult at times to keep up. The average patient will switch Insurance companies at least 3 times or more in their lifetime. In addition, the US plans of Medicare and Medicaid are constantly changing. Because of these facts, the need for people with expertise in healthcare administration is always growing. This class will teach students about how the system works, what is usually done procedure wise to ensure that people are getting the proper paperwork put in, and how we as administrator can improve our current health care situation for all citizens. This is a very important contributor to the overall quality of the health care industry. With a course in administration, organizational skills will be taught as well as how to be sure things are done properly.
