The National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences, or NACCAS, was previously named the Cosmetology Accrediting Commission and is a non-profit, independent accrediting agency that functions in the United States. The Commission, formed in 1981 through the merging of two different accrediting bodies. Although not government run, the NACCAS is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and currently accredits approximately 1,000 cosmetology schools across the United States.
Accreditation through NACCAS is entirely voluntary and is granted to cosmetology schools that uphold a high quality of education. NACCAS accredited schools practice with the highest standard of professional and educational.
